Is a call from (888) a scam?
An area code on its own never tells you whether a call is genuine. Caller ID is trivially spoofed, so a scammer can display (888) while calling from anywhere in the world. What actually identifies a caller is the number itself — the carrier that issued it, whether it is a mobile, landline or VoIP line, and whether other people have reported it.
